Juliana here. Just wanted to let you guys know that there are only 6 practices and 17 days left before we fly off to China.
Sec 2s, you haven't experienced the feeling of going for a competition before, so I'm telling you now that you really need to work hard. The Beijing trip isn't just about having fun, and you yourself know your progress on those pieces right now - not good.
If you don't know your notes, READ your score, practise note by note. If you can't play a certain rhythm, SUBDIVIDE, tap the beats yourself. Practise slowly until you got it, then gradually increase the speed.
Please stop being complacent, don't feel contented about your progress right now. Because if this continues on, we aren't going anywhere with our playing, we'll just be getting a COP in Beijing.
Not only will we be letting the school down (after all they sponsored us), we'll be letting Mr Tan and the teachers down, not to mention that most importantly - we'll be letting OURSELVES down.
After all the practices and work we've put in, is COP all we're ever gonna get?
Besides, after we sec 4s leave, there's the SYF and July NBC. How are you guys going to manage all that if you don't get your basics right first?
You guys have it in you, just that you're lazy. You can do it ok? Believe in yourself.
Don't always hide behind us, be confident and play out. :)
Don't worry so much about getting scolded by Mr Tan. Even playing
wrongly is better than being
scared to play. Think of what I've said, then reply me ok. :)
We rely on you to practise at home so really, practise at home ok. Make things easier for you and us during sectionals. That way we'll be able to just work on the really 'cannot make it' parts. :)
